The Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences has revealed its shortlists for 2024 Oscar nominees in a number of classes, together with Greatest Authentic Tune and Greatest Authentic Rating.
Of the 15 songs on the Oscar shortlist for Greatest Authentic Tune, three come from Barbie: “Dance the Evening” sung by Dua Lipa; “I’m Simply Ken” sung by Ryan Gosling; and “What Was I Made For?” sung by Billie Eilish.
Additionally on the Greatest Authentic Tune shortlist are Olivia Rodrigo for “Can’t Catch Me Now” from The Starvation Video games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes; Sharon Van Etten for “Quiet Eyes” from Previous Lives; Jarvis Cocker for “Pricey Alien (Who Artwork In Heaven)” from Asteroid Metropolis; Jon Batiste for “It By no means Went Away” from American Symphony; and Metro Boomin, A$AP Rocky, and Roisee for “Am I Dreaming” from Spider-Man: Throughout the Spider-Verse.
The shortlist for Greatest Authentic Rating contains myallmovies’s 2023 Composer of the 12 months, Ludwig Göransson, who’s in rivalry for his work on Oppenheimer. Different candidates embody the late Robbie Robertson for Killers of the Flower Moon; John Williams for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Future; Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt for Barbie; Mica Levi for The Zone of Curiosity; and Jon Batiste for American Symphony.
The finalists in every of those classes and the remainder of the 2024 Oscar nominees shall be introduced on January twenty third. Winners will then be awarded in the course of the televised ceremony scheduled to happen on March tenth.
