Theatrical release of Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: Chapter 2’ delayed

Warner Bros and New Line have delayed the August 16 launch of Kevin Costner’s western Horizon: Chapter 2 following the primary instalment’s underwhelming field workplace.

The primary half within the filmmaker’s sprawling saga and Cannes out of competitors choice opened in North America on June 28 and has mustered $22.6m.

A New Line Cinema spokesperson mentioned, “Territory Footage and New Line Cinema have determined to not launch Horizon: Chapter 2 on August 16 as a way to give audiences a better alternative to find the primary instalment of Horizon over the approaching weeks, together with on PVoD and Max.

“We thank our exhibition companions for his or her continued help as moviegoers throughout the US uncover the movie in its theatrical run.”

Releasing each components inside seven weeks of one another was all the time going to be a dangerous ploy – particularly for a three-hour western focused at Costner’s ageing fanbase – and the discharge of the second was contingent on the success of the primary on the field workplace.

Costner has mentioned he plans to make 4 movies and the manufacturing prices to this point have been pegged at roughly $100m.

Horizon: An American Saga takes place throughout the American Civil Battle. Costner stars alongside Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, and Jena Malone.
