Italy has chosen Maura Delpero’s Venice Silver Lion winner Vermiglio as its entry for the perfect worldwide characteristic Oscar.
Vermiglio gained the Grand Jury Prize in Competitors at Venice earlier this month. Set in 1944 within the Italian alpine village after which the movie is known as, it sees the arrival of a deserter soldier disrupt the lifetime of the village instructor and his household, because the eldest daughter falls in love with him.
Producers on the movie are Francesca Andreoli, Santiago Fondevila, Leonardo Guerra Seragnoli and Delpero, for Italy’s Cinedora with Rai Cinema, in co-production with France’s Charades Productions and Belgium’s Versus Manufacturing.
Sideshow and Janus Movies acquired North American rights on the movie following its Venice win; Charades handles worldwide gross sales, having struck the North American deal alongside Nameless Content material.
